French Rugby Union Championship 1987/88

The 1987/88 season was the 89th edition of the French Rugby Union Championship. It comprised 32 teams in the top division (today's top 14 ).

The championship was divided into two phases. It began with the group stage, in which eight teams played against each other in four groups. The four best placed in each group (16 teams in total) made it to the knockout round. This was followed by the eighth, quarter and semi-finals. In the final, which took place on May 28, 1988 in Parc des Princes in Paris , the two semi-final winners met and played for the Bouclier de Brennus . The SU Agen prevailed against Stadoceste Tarbais and won the championship title for the eighth time.
