French Rugby Union Championship 1999/2000
The 1999/2000 season was the 101st edition of the French Rugby Union Championship. It comprised 24 teams in the top division (today's top 14 ).
After the qualifying round, in which the teams were divided into two groups of twelve, the two best teams qualified directly for the quarter-finals. The third to sixth place wore a barrage around the remaining quarter-finals. The semi-finals were followed on July 15, 2000 in the Stade de France, the final to win the Bouclier de Brennus . In this Stade Français won against the US Colomiers and thus won the tenth championship title.
At the end of the season, four teams relegated to the second division, as the top division was reduced to 21 teams. The US Montauban and the RC Nîmes were relegated directly, while Stade Aurillacois prevailed in a barrage against the Racing Club de France and remained in the top division. Since the RC Toulon had accumulated a deficit of ten million francs, the club no longer received a professional license and was forcibly relegated. A team rose, the AS Béziers .
