from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 1990/91 season was the 92nd edition of the French Rugby Union Championship. It comprised 40 teams in the top division (today's top 14 ).

The championship was divided into two phases. It began with the group stage, in which eight teams played against each other in five groups. The three best placed in each group as well as the best group fourth (16 teams in total) made it into the knockout round. This was followed by the eighth, quarter and semi-finals. In the final, which took place on June 1, 1991 in the Parc des Princes in Paris , the two semi-final winners met and played for the Bouclier de Brennus . The CA Bègles-Bordeaux prevailed against Stade Toulousain and won the championship title for the second time.
