The 2012/13 season was the 114th edition of the French Rugby Union Championship. It comprised 14 teams in the top division Top 14 and 16 teams in the second highest division Pro D2 .

Top 14

The regular season of the Top 14 had 26 game days (one first and one second round). It began on August 17, 2012 and lasted until May 4, 2013. The two best-placed teams qualified directly for the semifinals and met the winners of the barrage games, which were played between the third to sixth place. The semi-final winners met in the final on June 1, 2013 and played for the Bouclier de Brennus championship trophy at the Stade de France . The title won for the fourth time Castres Olympique , which prevailed against the RC Toulon . The last two teams, the SU Agen and Stade Montois , had to relegate to the Pro D2.

    The regular season of the Pro D2 consisted of 30 game days (one first and one second round). It began on August 25, 2012 and lasted until May 8, 2013. The top-ranked team, the US Oyonnax , rose straight away. The teams in places 2 to 5 contested a playoff for the second promotion place, which the CA Brive was able to secure on May 19, 2013. Two teams had to relegate to the amateur league Fédérale 1 , the Pays d'Aix RC and the RC Massy Essonne .
