Because of the May riots , the final had to be postponed by three weeks. At the end of regular time it was 6: 6, after extra time 9: 9. FC Lourdes was declared champions because they had two attempts and RC Toulon none. In addition, it was no longer possible to schedule a replay as the French national team was about to leave for a tour of New Zealand and South Africa. According to the usual way of counting today, Lourdes FC would have won the game 13: 9.
