from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 1983/84 season was the 85th edition of the French Rugby Union Championship. It comprised 40 teams in the top division (today's top 14 ).

The championship was divided into two phases. It began with the group stage, in which eight teams played against each other in five groups. The top two in each group went straight to the knockout round, while twelve other teams fought an additional barrage . This was followed by the eighth, quarter and semi-finals. In the final, which took place on May 26, 1984 in the Parc des Princes in Paris , the two semi-final winners met and played for the Bouclier de Brennus . The AS Béziers prevailed against the SU Agen and won the championship title for the eleventh time.
