French Rugby Union Championship 1988/89

The 1988/89 season was the 90th edition of the French Rugby Union Championship. It comprised 32 teams in the top division (today's top 14 ).

The championship was divided into two phases. It began with the group stage, in which eight teams played against each other in four groups. The four best placed in each group (16 teams in total) made it to the knockout round. This was followed by the eighth, quarter and semi-finals. In the final, which took place on May 27, 1989 in the Parc des Princes in Paris , the two semi-final winners met and played for the Bouclier de Brennus . Here sat Stade Toulousain against RC Toulon through and won for the tenth time the championship.
