Gąsewo ( German  Gassöwen , 1938–1945 Heidenberg B ) is a small town in the northeast of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . It is a residential area in the village of Grodzisko (until 1925 Grodzisko , 1925–1938 Schloßberg , 1938–1945 Heidenberg ) in the association of the rural community Banie Mazurskie (Benkheim) in the powiat Gołdapski ( Goldap district ).

Gąsewo is located in the northeast of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , 19 kilometers east of the former district town of Angerburg ( Polish Węgorzewo ) and 23 kilometers southwest of today's district town Gołdap ( German  Goldap ).

history

The small village called Gassewen at the time , whose name spelling changed to Gassöwen after 1785 , consisted of several small farms and farmsteads. In 1874 it was in the newly built office district Grodzisko , which - in 1925 in the district of Castle Hill and 1939 in District Heidenberg renamed - to 1945 for district Angerburg in Administrative district Gumbinnen the Prussian province of East Prussia belonged.

In 1910 Gassöwen had 97 inhabitants. On April 1, 1938, the place lost its independence and was incorporated into Schloßberg (until 1925 Grodzisko ). A few months later Schlossberg was in Heidenberg renamed, and the district Gassöwen received the name name Heidenberg B .

After the Second World War, the place came to Poland in 1945 along with southern East Prussia and has since borne the Polish form of name Gąsewo . As since 1938, it is again part of the village of Grodzisko , which belongs to the rural community of Banie Mazurskie (Benkheim) in the powiat Gołdapski ( Goldap district ).

Ecclesiastically Gassöwen was parish in the Protestant Church Kutten (Polish: Kuty) or in the Catholic Church of the Good Shepherd Angerburg until 1945 .
