The municipality Mitrovica e Jugut ( Albanian  Komuna e Mitrovicës Jugore , Serbian Општина Косовска Митровица Opština Kosovska Mitrovica ) is a municipality in Kosovo . It is located in the Mitrovica district . The administrative seat is the city of Mitrovica . The administrative seat of the municipality Mitrovica e Jugut is located in the Albanian-speaking southern part of the city of Mitrovica.

geography

The municipality of Mitrovica is located in the north of Kosovo. In the north the municipality borders on Leposavić and Severna Kosovska Mitrovica , in the east on Podujeva , in the south on Vushtrria and in the west on Skënderaj . There are a total of 46 villages in the municipality. The area is 350 km². Together with the municipalities of Vushtrri, Skënderaj, Leposavić, Zubin Potok and Zvečan , the municipality forms the Mitrovica district.

The 2011 census showed a population of 84,235 for the municipality of Mitrovica e Jugut, of whom 69,497 stated to be Albanians, 647 Ashkali , 528 Roma , 518 Turks , 416 Bosniaks , 23 Gorans , 14 Serbs and 6 Balkan Egyptians . 71,422 declared themselves as Muslims, 42 as Catholics , 11 as Serbian Orthodox , 199 gave no answer and 14 have no faith.
