Hochfeld is a small place and an area in the Vöcklatal on the edge of the Salzkammergut mountains in the border region between Salzburg and Upper Austria as well as a place of the municipality of Straßwalchen in the district of Salzburg-Umgebung .

The area is located in the gate landscape on the northern edge of the Alps between the Mondsee Flysch Mountains of the Salzkammergut Mountains and the northern Hausruck and Kobernaußerwald train of the Alpine foothills , and thus the Salzburg lake area and the Vöckla-Ager valley . It forms the pass landscape between the Mattig valley to the northwest, to which the Straßwalchen area belongs as a foothill, the Vöcklatal area to the east, and the Zellersee (or Irrsee) area as part of the north facing the Kogler Berg  ( 819  m above sea level ) Salzkammergut south.

The village of Hochfeld is there at around 670  m above sea level. A. Höhe, 6 kilometers southeast of Straßwalchen and 7 kilometers west of Frankenmarkt and just as far northwest of Zell am Moos . It is located a few hundred meters east of the watershed between Mattig and Vöckla , and thus Inn and Traun , at the beginning of the Riedel, which stretches between Reitzingbach - Nössenbach near Hüttenedt and the catchment area of ​​the Eisbach around Winkl and the Langholz down to Schwaigern an der Vöckla .

The village has almost 15 buildings with around 40 inhabitants, including the hamlet of Moosleiten (3 buildings) just above. One building is on the other side of the cadastral boundaries of Irrsdorf zu Bruckmoos and has a Winkler address.

Hochfeld was originally called the whole area, from 1390/98 the Prince Archbishop's Salzburg Regional Court on Hochfeld (Höchfeld) with its seat in Straßwalchen ( nursing home , between 1420 and 1644 the place of jurisdiction was Mattsee ). It was responsible for border affairs with Austria until 1779, before the Innkreis came to Habsburg, also for the Baierischen .

The location appears on a map as early as 1667, GMVischer gives here Hehenfeld , south Waitznroit (probably Winzerroid) and north Perntal (a worn out homestead near Einstarten , right next to the railway), and as field name Daemling , to homestead Damling (Stockham 17, Damlinger Feld were the reasons here until the 20th century). The Vischkarte located the fons Vogglæ ('source of the Vöckla ') below , probably on the Eisbach .

In the 1830s there was only one house on the Hochfeld, called Hödhäusl (Stockham 64), above the Moosleitner homestead (Stockham 44) and north of the Schaber , which already belongs to Winkl (Winkl 16). The Hochfeldler (Winkl 6) below is only recorded in the 1870s.

In 1892 (inauguration April 26, 1893), the Hochfeld elementary school was built here. It was created on the initiative of local farmers because the way to school for the Hochfelder and even more so for the Hüttenedter (Hager) children to Irrsdorf took several hours. The schoolhouse was rebuilt in 1969.

The road from the B154  Mondsee Straße Irrsdorf to the L1281  Vöcklatalstraße (Mondsee - Frankenmarkt) near Hüttenedt is now the L265  Hüttenedter Landesstraße as a locally important connecting road.
