geography

The Reidebach in Reideburg

The Reidebach flows through Reideburg, delimiting the district to the west from the neighboring districts. In the south, the Kabelskebach is the corridor boundary.

history

History up to the 18th century

In the west of Reideburg there was an old hill fort from the time of the Great Migration. Remains of three castles have been preserved in Reideburg from a later period. The first was in the district of Burg, the second was a moated castle southeast of the St. Gertraud church in the area of the former manor and the third was a presumably Slavic castle wall northwest of the St. Gertraud church. Today's Reideburg district of Halle consists of the merged villages of Reideburg, Burg bei Reideburg, Sagisdorf, Kapellenende, Krondorf and Schönnewitz. Until 1815, the Magdeburg-Saxon or Prussian-Saxon state border ran through what is now the district. Castle near Reideburg and part of Reideburg belonged to the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon part. Until 1815 they were the official places of the Delitzsch office .

The other part of Reideburg and the villages of Krondorf, Schönnewitz and the Sagisdorf manor , however, belonged to the hall circle of the Archbishopric of Magdeburg . In 1680 this came under Brandenburg-Prussian rule as the Duchy of Magdeburg . The Magdeburg and Prussian part of Reideburg belonged, like Krondorf (earlier spelling: Crondorf) and Schönnewitz, to the Giebichenstein office , which also held the higher courts over the Sagisdorf manor. The two manors in Reideburg belonged to the Glaucha orphanage . The places in the east of Halle used to be called “kitchen villages”, because the fertile soil meant that a lot of fruit and vegetables were grown, which served to supply Halle.

19th century to the present

During the time of the Napoleonic occupation (1807-1813) Reideburg became Prussian. Share, Krondorf, Sagisdorf and Schönnewitz assigned to the canton Halle-Land in the district Halle ( department of the Saale ) of the Kingdom of Westphalia . After Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher had set up his headquarters in Pouch near Leipzig in 1813 , he originally intended to expect Napoleon Bonaparte's attack behind the Reide swamps from Döllnitz to Reideburg.

During the political reorganization after the Congress of Vienna in 1815, Burg bei Reideburg and the Saxon part of Reideburg were ceded to Prussia. Like Reideburg they became Prussian. Share, Krondorf, Sagisdorf and Schönnewitz in 1816 attached to the administrative district of Merseburg of the Prussian province of Saxony and assigned to the Saalkreis. In the 19th century, the places gradually grew together to form the municipality of Reideburg, whereby individual place names disappeared.

By lowering the river several times and regulating the course of the Reide in 1926/27, these swamp areas and meadows in the village became more and more dry and arable land gradually emerged. The 70 hectare manor Sagisdorf , the largest company for fine fruit and early vegetables in the Saalkreis, supplied its products exclusively to the wholesale markets in Halle and Leipzig until the outbreak of World War II .

On July 1, 1950, Reideburg was incorporated into Halle (Saale). In the mid-1990s, a central sewage system was set up for all the places bordering the Reidebach.

Since the turn of the millennium, the Star Park industrial area has been built on the eastern outskirts and the neighboring communities of Queis (Landsberg) and Kabelsketal .

In the past few years, several new building areas have emerged in Reideburg, which have also increased the number of residents. So the area at Sagisdorf Park, as well as around Schönnewitz.

traffic

Streets

The Delitzscher Straße runs through Reideburg from Halle city center to the A14 exit "Halle (Saale) -Ost". There are currently plans for a bypass road that will bypass Reideburg to the south and run through the Priemitzer Mark.

Rail transport

With the opening of tram line C, Reideburg was connected to the Halle tram network on May 9, 1914 . In this way, the workers employed in Halle's industrial plants in the former kitchen villages in the east of Halle reached their workplaces along the tram line more quickly. Line C, built for 300,000 marks, ran from the main train station via Delitzscher Strasse and Büschdorf to Schönnewitz. Until the end of January 1915, the end of the line was the “Zur Linde” inn in Schönnewitz, which had been pasture to Reideburg since the Middle Ages. The line, which was extended by approx. 700 m, opened on January 22, 1915. It now reached almost to the Reideburg Church. The line was operated by the Halleschen Straßenbahn AG , founded in 1882 and owned by the city on January 1, 1911.

Since the line change on November 1, 1921, line 9 has been running on the 9.6 km long Seebener Strasse - Reileck - Markt - Riebeckplatz - Büschdorf - Reideburg route. Line 10 later went to Reideburg, which, until it was discontinued on May 21, 1971, enabled a direct tram connection to the main station and market in Halle. With the commissioning of the Wendeschleife in Büschdorf on February 20, 1961, the long-term out of the line to Reideburg had already been indicated. The last shunting point in Halle thus disappeared. Remnants of the old tram tracks could still be seen sporadically in Reideburg's streets until the early 1990s.

Sports

The Reideburg-based sports club in 1990, the cycling division, plays with a women's team in the 1st cycling championship and was German runners-up in women's cycling polo in 2015 and 2019 . In the past, the men's cycling teams of the RSV played in the German cycling league. In 2019 they became the season winner of the 2nd Bundesliga North, but failed in the promotion round to the 1st Bundesliga.
