The men's triple jump at the European Athletics Championships in 1966 was held on September 3 and 4, 1966 in Budapest's Népstadion .
The Bulgarian Georgi Stojkowski became European champion . The GDR jumper Hans-Jürgen Rückborn came in second place . The Hungarian Henrik Kalocsai won the bronze medal.

Record improvement
European champion Georgi Stojkowski improved the existing EM record in the final on September 4th by twelve centimeters to 16.67 m.
qualification

The 24 participants took part in a joint qualifying round. The qualification distance for direct entry into the final was 15.80 m. Sixteen athletes exceeded this mark (highlighted in light blue) and thus qualified for the final.
