The following year he made his debut for the men's selection in the Elitserien , the highest professional league in the country, while he was also used on loan from Karlskrona HK in the second-class Allsvenskan . He then moved to Luleå HF in the now renamed Svenska Hockeyligan (SHL) and subsequently established himself in their professional squad. After Wallmark had already signed an entry-level contract with the Hurricanes in June 2015 , he moved permanently to North America for the 2016/17 season and was initially employed there with Carolina's farm team , the Charlotte Checkers from the American Hockey League (AHL). There the Swede convinced with a constant offensive production, so that he made his debut for the Hurricanes in the National Hockey League (NHL) in March 2017 . This was followed by a further eight appearances in the same year and eleven games in the following season 2017/18, before he was able to earn a regular place in the NHL squad as part of the preparation for the 2018/19 season.
After almost four years in the organization of the Hurricanes, Wallmark was handed over to the Florida Panthers for the trade deadline in February 2020 together with Erik Haula , Eetu Luostarinen and Chase Priskie . In return, Vincent Trocheck moved to Carolina.

Wallmark gained his first international experience at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament 2011 , where he won the silver medal with the Swedish U17 team and the bronze medal the following year . He then took part in the U18 World Cup in 2013 as well as in the U20 World Cup in 2014 and 2015 , where he won the silver medal with the Swedish U20 selection in 2014.
