The 1982-83 NBA season was the National Basketball Association's 37th season . The regular season began on October 29, 1982 and ended on April 17, 1983. This was followed by the NBA playoffs on April 19, 1983, which ended in late May with the NBA Finals . The Philadelphia 76ers were able to secure the championship with a 4-0 in the series against the Los Angeles Lakers .

Draft

The 1982 NBA Draft took place in New York City on June 29, 1982 . In first position, James Worthy was chosen by the Los Angeles Lakers .

All-Star Game

The 1983 All-Star Game was played on February 13, 1983 at The Forum in Inglewood . The East won with 132 to 123. For MVP was Julius Erving selected.
