NGC 149 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Andromeda in the northern sky . It is an estimated 224 million light years from the Milky Way and about 80,000 light years in diameter .
The galaxy NGC 140 is located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered on October 4, 1883 by the French astronomer Édouard Stephan .
