history
Until the church is planted
Daiting was first mentioned in a document in 1241 (Teytingen). The von Meilenhart noble family, who resided at the Daitingen castle in Meilenhart, was Hereditary Marshal of the Counts of Lechsgmünd and died out at the end of the 13th century. The most important personality of the family was probably Reinboto von Meilenhart , who became Bishop of Eichstätt . Mileshart Castle was robbed and destroyed in a vengeance in 1421. The place later came to the Duchy of Palatinate-Neuburg , so that after the Peace of Augsburg (1555) from 1560 to 1621 the residents of Daiting belonged to the Evangelical Lutheran denomination. In 1818, as part of the reforms in Bavaria, the Daiting community was established.
19th to 21st century
At the beginning of the 19th century, ore-bearing rock was extracted in the opencast mine and transported by horse-drawn cart to Obereichstätt , where there was a melting furnace. Around 1860, the operation became unprofitable because the iron content of the ore was too low and the transport costs were too high.
At the end of the 1980s, the eighth specimen of the Archeopteryx was found in the municipality.
The Daiting village shop, which was built after the last shop in the old warehouse was closed, opened on January 13, 2005.
