Small Gebketal nature reserve

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The small Gebketal nature reserve with a size of 7.5 hectares is located in the Arnsberg Forest in the north of Meschede . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 1994 with the Meschede landscape plan.

Area description

The NSG is a forest with the Kleine Gebke stream . Red alder , red beech and red spruce predominantly grow in the forest . Rare animal and plant species are found in the NSG.

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the forest and the stream with its species inventory.

As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
