Upper Gebketal nature reserve

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The nature reserve Upper Gebketal with a size of 7.5 hectares is located in the Arnsberg Forest north of Enste in the urban area of Meschede . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 1994 with the Meschede landscape plan.

Area description

The NSG is the Gebke with forest areas and seepage springs. There are areas in the forest with beech and alder . Rare animal and plant species are found in the NSG.

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the stream areas and forest with its species inventory.

As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
