Nature reserve valley area west of Greverhagen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The nature reserve valley area west of Greverhagen with a size of 11.3 hectares is located in the Arnsberg Forest nature park northeast of Meschede . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 1994 with the Meschede landscape plan.

Area description

The NSG is an unnamed tributary of the Kohlweder Bach with broken forest . Red alder mainly grows in the quarry forest . Rare animal and plant species are found in the NSG.

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the stream and the broken forest with its species inventory.

As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
