Erlenbruch nature reserve in Gebketal

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The nature reserve Erlenbruch in Gebketal with a size of 1.6 hectares is located in the Arnsberg Forest northwest of Enste in the urban area of Meschede . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 1994 with the Meschede landscape plan. The nature reserve Oberes Gebketal is only about 100 m away above the stream.

Area description

The NSG is a red alder forest in the Gebke valley . In the forest there are areas with a lot of peat moss and seepage springs. Rare animal and plant species are found in the NSG.

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the stream areas and quarry forest with its species inventory.

As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
