The Aschholter Becke nature reserve with a size of 7.7 hectares is located in the Arnsberg Forest northwest of Eversberg in the Meschede urban area . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 1994 with the Meschede landscape plan.

Area description

The NSG is the source and stream of the Aschholter Becke . Red alder mainly grows in the quarry forest . Rare animal and plant species are found in the NSG.

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the stream and the broken forest with its species inventory.

As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
