from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The nature reserve Upper Lüttmecketal with a size of 10 hectares is located directly on the northern city limits of Meschede in the Arnsberg Forest nature park . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 1994 with the Meschede landscape plan. The city of Arnsberg borders in the northwest and the city of Warstein in the Soest district in the northeast . The nature reserve is cut into two sections by highway 735 from Oeventrop to Hirschberg , with two thirds of the nature reserve lying north of the L 735.

Area description

The Upper Lüttmecketal nature reserve is a forest area, predominantly with red alder , and the source region of the Lüttmecke . The species-rich herb and moss vegetation has a degree of coverage of 100%. Rare animal and plant species can be found in the nature reserve.

Protection purpose

The nature reserve is intended to protect the forest area and springs with its species inventory.

As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
