Kümmecke nature reserve

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Kümmecke nature reserve with a size of 9.1 hectares is located directly on the northern city limits of Meschede in the Arnsberg Forest . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 1994 with the Meschede landscape plan. In the north, the city of Warstein borders in the Soest district .

Area description

The NSG is a biotope complex of wet forests, springs and the Kümmecke stream . Red alder predominantly grows in the NSG . Rare animal and plant species are found in the NSG.

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the biotope complex of wet forests, springs and the stream with its species inventory.

As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
