from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Schneeberg nature reserve with a size of 1.6 hectares is located in the Arnsberg Forest north of Enste in the urban area of Meschede . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 1994 with the Meschede landscape plan. The NSG consists of three sub-areas ( here , here and here ). The southern part of the area is only about 80 m away from the north-eastern edge of the Upper Gebketal nature reserve .

Area description

The NSG consists of three red alder forests with spring areas in the area of the Schneeberg . Rare animal and plant species are found in the NSG. The NSG is surrounded by large red spruce forests.

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the broken forest parts with their sources and their species inventory.

As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
