Ruhr nature reserve near Freienohl

The nature reserve Ruhr near Freienohl with a size of 4.8 hectares is located south of Freienohl in the urban area of Meschede . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 1994 with the Meschede landscape plan.

Area description

The NSG is a near-natural section of the Ruhr .

Protection purpose

As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
