The nature reserve Am Bocksbart with a size of 2.7 ha is located southeast of Wallen in the urban area of Meschede . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Arnsberg district government in 1950 . In 1994, with the Meschede landscape plan, the Hochsauerland district reassigned it as an NSG. The NSG is surrounded by the landscape protection area of local open spaces near Wallen .
area
The nature reserve consists of the remains of a juniper heather with littered grasslands . Part of the NSG has already become forest. In the middle of the forest is the juniper heather. The heather is grazed with heather sheep to keep the area open .
As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
