Olper Höhe nature reserve - winter side

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The nature reserve Olper Höhe - Winterseite with a size of 9.3 hectares is located east of Freienohl in the urban area of Meschede . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 1994 with the Meschede landscape plan. The NSG consists of two areas.

Area description

The NSG is a forest area with old wood. The forest is a mixed deciduous forest with oak , hornbeam and red beech . Rare animal and plant species are found in the NSG.

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the forest with its species inventory.

As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
