The deciduous forest nature reserve north of Drasenbeck with a size of 9.2 hectares is located east of Remblinghausen in the urban area of Meschede . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 1994 with the Meschede landscape plan.

Area description

The NSG is a forest area with a stream on the lower slope of the Löllingser Berg. A red alder forest grows by the brook , on the rest of the area a mixed stand of oak and red beech grows with predominantly strong wood. There are locally blocks of diabas rock in the forest . In the west, a multi-shoot eddy-alder-wet forest grows on a site with a seepage spring. Rare animal and plant species are found in the NSG.

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the forest with its species inventory.

As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
