Thralanberg nature reserve

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The nature reserve Thralanberg with a size of 11.8 ha is located west of Freienohl in the urban area of Meschede . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 1994 with the Meschede landscape plan. The NSG was included in the landscape plan as a temporary (temporary) fix. The route of the planned A 46 has already been entered in the landscape plan. Today the A 46, which has been built in the meantime, cuts the length of the still existing nature reserve into two roughly equal parts. To the east of the area lies the Rümmecke brook .

Area description

The NSG is the former Allmende pasture from Freienohl. It was a grassland area with solitary trees, spring hollows and a branched sieve system . Rare animal and plant species are found in the NSG.

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the grassland with its species inventory.

As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
