Schwedelbach is a municipality in the Kaiserslautern district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the community of Weilerbach .
geography
Schwedelbach is located 14 km northwest of Kaiserslautern on the southern edge of the North Palatinate Uplands . The district of Pörrbach belongs to the local community of Schwedelbach. The Rischbach flows through the middle of the municipality .
history
The place was first mentioned in a document in 1342. Until the end of the 18th century, Schwedelbach belonged to the Electoral Palatinate .
From 1798 to 1814, when the Palatinate part of the French Republic (until 1804) and then part of the Napoleonic Empire , was the place was in Canton Landstuhl incorporated Mairie Reichenbach . In 1815 the place had 350 inhabitants. In the same year, Austria was struck. A year later he moved to the Kingdom of Bavaria . In 1817 the community moved to the canton of Kaiserslautern. From 1818 to 1862, Schwedelbach was a member of the Kaiserslautern regional commissioner ; from this the district office of Kaiserslautern emerged.
The community has been part of the Kaiserslautern district since 1939 . After the Second World War , Olsbrücken became part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate within the French occupation zone . In the course of the first Rhineland-Palatinate administrative reform , the place was added to the newly created community of Weilerbach in 1972 . On March 16, 1974, the previously independent municipality of Pörrbach was incorporated into Schwedelbach.

From 1920 to 1972 Schwedelbach was connected to the rail network via the so-called Bachbahn , which ran from the Lampertsmühle-Otterbach station to Reichenbach.
The station was on the southern outskirts of Schwedelbach. After ticket sales at the station had been given up in 1962, it took place in the private house of the employee previously responsible at the station. There was a goods shed right next to the reception building. In the 1950s, Schwedelbach was no longer an independent freight tariff point, but officially only a siding. 1983 ended the service of the station in freight traffic.

The public transport in the transport association Rhein-Neckar integrated (VRN). State road 367 , which runs from Altenglan to Rodenbach, and state road 369 , which leads to Kaiserslautern and Eßweiler, run through the middle of Schwedelbach . The county road 13 connects to Weilerbach. The community is connected to the motorway network by the A 6 (junction: Kaiserslautern-West).
