Robert "Rob" Leask (born June 9, 1971 in North York , Ontario ) is a former German - Canadian ice hockey player who last played in the DEL for the Nürnberg Ice Tigers . Since the 2015/16 season he has been assistant trainer for the Straubing Tigers in the DEL .
Career
Club career
The 1.88 m tall defender began his professional career with various teams in the Canadian Junior League OHL before he was selected in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft as 209th in the tenth round. However, the left shooter was never on the ice for the Capitals in the National Hockey League , but only played for various farm teams in lower-class leagues.
In 1996 Leask moved to the German Ice Hockey League , where he played for the Eisbären Berlin from now on . With the Eisbären, the defender was able to win the German championship in 2005 and 2006 , and in 2006 he left the capital city after ten years for Hamburg Freezers . For the 2009/10 season the defender signed a contract with the Nürnberg Ice Tigers . In May 2013 Leask signed a contract as a trainer at EV Regensburg, but was given leave of absence in February 2014 due to sporting failure. In the 2014/15 season Leask was assistant trainer at the DEL2 Club Kassel Huskies and supported Rico Rossi there . Since April 2015 he has been assistant trainer at the Straubing Tigers .
International
For the German national team denied Leask, who now holds both Canadian and German citizenship, previously 36 operations, including at the World Championships in 2004 and 2006 and the 2004 World Cup of Hockey and the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin.
