geography

Rouvroy is about 10 kilometers southeast of Lens . It is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Billy-Montigny in the north, Hénin-Beaumont in the northeast, Drocourt in the east, Bois-Bernard in the south, Acheville in the southwest and Méricourt in the west.

history

The name of the community is said to come from the French name of the sessile oak ( chêne rouvre ).

As the coat of arms of the municipality shows, mining was dominant in the municipality for a long time.
