The Scottish Football League Second Division was held in 2010/11 for the 36th time after the introduction of the Premier League as the third highest Scottish league . In addition, it was the thirty-sixth event as the third highest division of men's football in Scotland under the name Second Division . In the 2010/11 season, 10 clubs competed against each other in a total of 36 match days. Each team played four times against each other team. In the event of a tie, the goal difference counted .
The championship was won by the newly promoted Livingston FC , which also secured participation in the 2011/12 First Division season . On the ascent play-offs took Ayr United , Forfar Athletic and Brechin City part. The runner-up from Ayr was able to successfully prevail in this and rise alongside Livingston . In the relegation for the remaining in the Second Division, Alloa Athletic fought in vain . FC Peterhead also had to relegate to the Third Division . The top scorer with 21 goals went to Ayr United's Mark Roberts and Livingston FC's Iain Russell .

Relegation
Participants in the relegation games were Alloa Athletic from this year's Second Division, as well as the three teams from the Third Division , Albion Rovers , FC Queen's Park and Annan Athletic . The winners of the first round played in the last round for a place for the following Scottish Second Division season 2011/12 .
