Origin and meaning

The name Sebastinus goes back to the name of the Greek city Sebaste . The name of the city was derived from the Greek Σεβαστός sebastós “venerable”, based on Augustus , Latin “sublime”, in honor of a Roman emperor. The meaning of the name is therefore "Man from Sebaste" or "the sublime", "the venerable".
