Location of Saarbrücken in Saarland

The Saarland detective chief inspector Jens Stellbrink , played by Devid Striesow , is the focus of the episodes of the crime series Tatort, for which the Saarländischer Rundfunk (SR) is responsible . The most important supporting roles are played by Elisabeth Brück , who embodies the main commissioner Lisa Marx , and in later episodes by Sandra Maren Schneider in the role of the commissioner candidate Mia Emmrich . The first two cases with investigators were broadcast in the spring of 2013. The last episode aired on January 27, 2019 as Devid Striesow dropped out of the Tatort series.

background

Stellbrink and Marx replaced the previously investigating Saarbrücker investigator duo Kappl ( Maximilian Brückner ) and Deininger ( Gregor Weber ), who were removed from the SR in 2011 after seven episodes because their story was "told". The investigation and shooting locations were Saarbrücken and the surrounding area. The first two episodes were shot in the summer of 2012 in a total of 41 days of shooting. Numerous negative reactions from critics and the audience accompanied the two first broadcasts.

characters

Jens Stellbrink

Devid Striesow alias Jens Stellbrink

Chief Detective Jens Stellbrink, played by Devid Striesow , was transferred from the Federal Police to the State Police in Saarbrücken. Solving capital crimes has not yet been part of his remit. He devotes himself to his new tasks with his own calmness. His mother's concerns that his transfer to the small town of Saarbrücken could harm his career do not bother him. In order to get to know his new home better, he moves around Saarbrücken with a red Vespa, which he also uses on his business missions. What is striking is his way of dressing, which does not correspond at all to the idea that people generally have of a commissioner. For Stellbrink it is especially important that what he is wearing is comfortable. His favorite garment is a Thai wrap pants. Since outward appearances are of no importance to him, he doesn't care how it affects others. Stellbrink, who was born in Trinwillershagen in the mid-1970s , rests in himself and finds relaxation with his regularly practiced yoga exercises. It also happens that he meditates at his work place because he is firmly convinced that he can use his subconscious to support it. Even if he is often considered naive because of his idealism, he is not at all, on the contrary, a very clever head who is quite able to assert himself when he is convinced of something. Since he does not talk about the fact that he has enjoyed years of professional psychological and criminological training, an aura of the intangible remains around him for his colleagues. The nature of his unorthodox approach and his attitude to life lead to criticism of him again and again.

Stellbrink likes to live in Saarbrücken and in his apartment, which towers like a giant glass case high above the roofs of the city, but occasionally misses the sea a bit. He lives alone in Saarbrücken, his son grows up with his mother who lives with him on the Baltic Sea.

Lisa Marx

Chief Detective Lisa Marx, played by Elisabeth Brück , is the exact opposite of Stellbrink and his intuitive investigation methods. She approaches the cases to be solved analytically and usually does not allow emotions, which is why she is considered cool and controlled by colleagues. For Marx, this attitude is important for her approach to her cases, as she had to experience time and again that her profession is still strongly dominated by men today. The Commissioner can be very uncompromising in achieving her goals. She is nicknamed “Mrs. Spock ”, an allusion to the Vulcan Spock from the series“ Raumschiff Enterprise ”, who is also logically hypothermic. Stellbrink can upset Marx quite a bit with statements such as that she should smoke a joint to relax, that could also be helpful in investigative work, her looseness is not at all peculiar to her. Stellbrink's verdict on his new partner is that she has quite a "stick up her bum". Saarbrücken is Marx's hometown, which, unlike Stellbrink, she knows very well and through which she curves on her motorcycle. Physical fitness also plays an important role for the Commissioner.

More figures

  • Horst Jordan - ( Hartmut Volle ), forensic scientist. The character has played Volle since 2006 as a member of the Kappl and Deininger investigative team , the predecessor team of Stellbrink and Marx. In the new team of investigators, his role profile was slightly adjusted, which is not only reflected in a new hairstyle, but also by the fact that he is in a different phase of his life and is portrayed a bit more "wild".
  • Nicole Dubois - ( Sandra Steinbach ) embodies the hectic public prosecutor who always acts extremely bureaucratic and disregards arguments of her employees in her own stoic way and repeatedly causes irritation.
