Nesselsdorf U

The Nesselsdorf U was an automobile produced by the Nesselsdorfer Wagenbau-Fabriks-Gesellschaft . It appeared in 1914 as the successor to the 1906 S 6 car .

Its six-cylinder in - line engine with overhead camshaft, 5340 cm³ displacement and 65–70 hp (48–51 kW) power was installed in the front. This new block engine with a camshaft drive by a vertical shaft was developed by Hans Ledwinka . It was still equipped with magneto ignition , but instead of the ascending flow carburetor there was a Zenith flat flow carburetor of the type 42 DK. The vehicle had a ladder frame and rigid axles with leaf springs at the front and rear. The U was one of the first vehicle types with brakes on the front wheels ("four-wheel brake"). There were different bodies with up to six seats, for example tourers, landauers or limousines. The maximum speed of the 1,800 kg car was 100–120 km / h.

When Ringhoffer AG took over the Nesselsdorf company in 1923 , this car was sold as Tatra 10 until 1925. It was almost exclusively available with 6-seater superstructures. The engine developed 68 hp (50 kW) and accelerated the 1920 kg vehicle to up to 120 km / h.

The successor to the Tatra 10 was the Type 17 from 1925 .
