Raach am Hochgebirge is a municipality with 304 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the Neunkirchen district in Lower Austria .
geography
Raach am Hochgebirge is located south of Gloggnitz in the Lower Austrian industrial district . The municipality is located on the border between the large scenic areas of the Bucklige Welt and the Semmering area . The Raachbach forms the Raachtal coming from the north and flows into the Otterbach near Otterthal .
The area of the municipality covers 13.25 square kilometers. 70.37 percent of the area is forested.

history
In ancient times, the area was part of the Noricum province . Raach was first mentioned in a document around 1130.
On January 1, 1971, the communities of Raach am Hochgebirge and Trattenbach zu Otterthal were incorporated. On January 1st, 1985 these two communities became independent again. The reason was a finding by the Constitutional Court .

According to the 2001 census data , 91.8% of the population are Roman Catholic and 3.3% Protestant . 0.3% are Muslims . 4.6% of the population have no religious denomination.

- The Austrian Mathematics Olympiad takes place annually in the Raach Seminar Center.
- During the Advent season, the Raach church choir organizes Advent singing in the parish church.

In 2001 there were 10 non-agricultural workplaces, and according to the 1999 survey there were 37 in agriculture and forestry. According to the 2001 census, the number of people in employment at home was 132. In 2001, the employment rate was 43.75 percent.
