Miyazaki Yasuji
Miyazaki Yasuji ( Japanese宮 崎 康 二; born October 15, 1916 in Kosai , Shizuoka Prefecture ; † December 30, 1989 ) was a Japanese swimmer .
He was the youngest swimmer to ever win gold in the 100m freestyle at the Olympics. At the age of just 15, he became Olympic champion at the 1932 Olympic Games in Los Angeles . With the Japanese relay he won gold in the 4 × 200 m freestyle. In the semi-finals of the 100 m freestyle, he was the first swimmer to break the sound barrier of 58 seconds with his world record .
In 1981 he was inducted into the international swimming pool 's hall of fame .
