Zipora Rafaelov

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Zipora Rafaelov (* 1954 in Be'er Scheva ( Israel )) is an Israeli artist .

life and work

From 1973 to 1975 Rafaelov studied journalism and economics at Tel Aviv University . This was followed by evening studies at the Institute for Fine Arts, Bat Jam (Israel). She continued her studies at the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1981 to 1987; In 1986 she was made a master class student. She lives and works in Düsseldorf .

Rafaelov works in two different techniques: On the one hand, she creates location-dependent room installations in which she uses a multitude of fine threads to combine graphic and sculptural properties; on the other hand, she cuts filigree silhouettes out of paper with motifs from everyday culture. Both techniques combine the reduction to black and white materials and the staging of light and shadow.
