The 2nd division 1986/87 was the 39th season of the second highest Polish football division of men. It started in August 1986 and ended in June 1987.

mode

The 32 teams were divided into two groups of 16 teams each. These played against each other twice on a total of 30 match days, divided into a round trip. The two group winners rose directly to the first division , while the second and third placed were able to advance through the play-offs.

The last two clubs were relegated directly to the third division . The teams in places 11 to 14 played in the relegation against relegation.

The team that won by three goals or more received an extra point, while one point was deducted from the losing team.
