The 2nd division 1997/98 was the 50th season of the second highest Polish football division of men. It started in July 1997 and ended in June 1998.

The 35 teams were divided into two groups of 17 and 18 teams respectively. Relegated Sokół Tychy had withdrawn before the start of the season. The clubs played against each other twice in a round trip. The champions of both groups rose to the first division . The clubs from 14th place were relegated to the 3rd division .
