The second tennis league of gentlemen 2010 was held for the 10th time, which for the first time as a single-track league. The 2nd Bundesliga was played in two tracks from 2001 to 2009 with a north and a south group, each with nine teams.
By merging the two second division groups in 2009, the field of 10 teams consisted of the two relegated teams from the 1st Bundesliga , the second to fourth placed teams in the 2nd Bundesliga group north, and the second to fourth placed teams in the 2nd Bundesliga group South, as well as the two promoted players from the regional leagues, which were determined through promotion games.
With the withdrawal of the runner-up in the 2. Bundesliga Group North, Solingen TC 1902 , TV Reutlingen , who would have been relegated to the Regionalliga Süd-West as fifth in Group South, remained in the 2. Bundesliga. This became possible because the group south in 2009 played with the nominal strength of nine teams, the group north, however, only with eight teams. Five teams from the south group would have been relegated, whereas only four teams from the north group would have had to make their way to the regional leagues. By renouncing Solingen, TV Reutlingen had obtained the "right to stay" in the 2nd Bundesliga.
After the company Tennis Point has supported the first Bundesliga as the main sponsor and named after it since 2009 (1st Tennis-Point Bundesliga), the new single-track 2nd tennis Bundesliga is also sponsored by Tennis Point and now bears the official name 2. Tennis-Point Bundesliga .
