production
Jennifer Saunders told New York Magazine that she definitely wanted to make a film about the series. As a backdrop, she had the French Riviera in view. In April 2013 she announced on the Alan Carr Chatty Man Show that she would not tackle a film project for the series because the cast was "too old" .
On January 4, 2014, Saunders confirmed during an interview on The Jonathan Ross Show that the film will definitely be shot after being in the conversation for so long. Saunders said (in the OT): " Joanna Lumley kept announcing it and saying, 'Yes she's going to do it,' and then Dawn French on our radio show at Christmas said, 'I bet £ 100,000 that you don't write it' , so now I have to write it, otherwise I have to pay her £ 100,000. " . (Eng: "Joanna Lumley announced it and said, 'Yeah, she's doing it,' and then Dawn French said on our Christmas radio show, 'I bet £ 100,000 you won't write it,' so I have to write it or else I have to pay her £ 100,000. " )
In April 2014, she confirmed to BBC Breakfast that she was continuing to write a film and said the film would be released during 2015.
As early as late July 2014, Saunders confirmed that she would give all guest actors who appeared in the series a role in the film. She did not announce a date for the cinema release.
Saunders then confirmed in early 2015 that a first draft of the script had been completed. She also announced that the film will open as Edina and Patsy in late 2015.
During the release of Loose Women on April 29, 2015, Saunders announced the film's fall 2015 start date and said that all of the leading actors and most of the guest actors in the series would be in the film. One of the locations is London. Depending on the budget, filming should also take place in the south of France.
In June 2015, they were looking for a 13-year-old girl to play Saffron's daughter Jane. Above all, she should be tough, appear cool and find her mother embarrassing, but think her grandmother is great.
Joanna Lumley announced in an interview on the ITV program This Morning on July 29, 2015 that the shooting of the new film should start on October 12, 2015 and last around eight weeks. The film is also being shot in the south of France.
Edina and Patsy was discarded as the film title, the official Facebook page is titled Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie.
