Anthony Bourdain - A Matter of Taste was a travel and cooking show that first aired on the Travel Channel in the United States on July 25, 2005. In Germany, the series has been aired on September 1, 2006 on DMAX and on the Discovery Channel of Sky Deutschland's pay-TV program .
The focus is on the cook and author Anthony Bourdain , who is accompanied by a camera team on his travels around the world. Usually local people are introduced who accompany Bourdain through the respective country and present the culture of the country with the accompanying food. The format and content of the show are comparable to Bourdain's Food Network series A Cook's Tour (2001–2002).
The special episode Anthony Bourdain in Beirut aired between seasons 2 and 3 in the US and was nominated for "Outstanding Achievement 2007" at the Emmy Awards . Filming for a normal episode of the series about the Lebanese city of Beirut began one day before the start of the second Lebanon War on July 12, 2006. Initially in the style of a normal episode, this episode developed into a report on the conflict that ends with the evacuation of the team and other US citizens by the US Navy.
