Along with Gruiten, Haan is one of the two rail transport stops in the Bergisch town of Haan . It is a stop on the Gruiten – Cologne – Deutz railway line .
history
It was only opened subsequently in 1885 on the Gruiten – Cologne – Deutz railway line, which was completed in 1867 . The station building, which is a replica of a Massachusetts station , was completed in 1899. It has been a listed building since May 26, 1993. Up until the 1980s, there was a freight yard on today's site of the hardware store on Böttingerstrasse. In 2007, the area around the station was redesigned, with bicycle parking facilities and additional P&R spaces being created.
Situation today
The reception building is now used as a restaurant. The two side platforms are connected by stairs. Both tracks are barrier-free, with access to track 1 with trains in the direction of Wuppertal via Eisenbahnstraße, and to track 2 with trains in the direction of Cologne via the street Zur Pumpstation . However, the platforms are only 38 centimeters high, so that the Bombardier Talent 2 trains currently in use on the RB 48 line are accessed via their extendable step. The city wanted an increase in the platforms and a direct connection to Bahnhofstrasse to shorten the transfer routes, but nothing is known about the realization of this project on the part of the railway. However, improvements at the breakpoint are within reach with the modernization offensive 3 (MOF 3) co-financed by the federal and state governments. The Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Ruhr announced in February 2016 that it was planning to increase the station's platforms to 76 centimeters by 2023 at the latest, to retrofit them with elevators and to modernize the equipment. The platforms are partially covered, a Deutsche Bahn ticket machine is located at the level of the pedestrian bridge.
The Haaner train station is served by the following local trains:
