geography

Geographical location

Staudach-Egerndach is located in the Chiemgau , especially in the Achental south of the Chiemsee . The nearest autobahn and the nearest train station can be found on the Munich-Salzburg route at Übersee .

The Hochgern ( 1748  m above sea  level ) can be climbed from Staudach-Egerndach .

history

The place Egerndach is first mentioned with "Gerhart de Egerdach" 1110/11, the place Staudach 1150 as "Studahe" . In the Middle Ages, Hohenstein Castle existed in today's municipal area , which was temporarily owned by the Chiemgau counts of the Sieghardinger family . The complex, of which only a few remains are preserved on the Schlossberg, often changed hands. In 1260 the castle came under the rule of Duke Heinrich XIII. from Bavaria-Landshut.

Today's independent municipality was founded in 1817 as the municipality of Egerndach . On April 13, 1949, the municipality name Egerndach was officially changed to Staudach-Egerndach .

Population development

Between 1988 and 2018 the community grew from 1,053 to 1,167 by 114 inhabitants or 10.8%.

politics

Martina Gauckler (CSU / UWG) has been mayor since May 1, 2020; it was elected on March 15, 2020 with 85.4% of the valid votes. Her predecessor was Hans Pertl (nominated by the CSU and several electoral communities) from May 1, 2002 to April 30, 2020.

Culture and sights

art

The sculptor Carsten Lewerentz lives and works in Staudach-Egerndach . Since 1999 Lewerentz has been running the “studio window” in a former grocery store on Bahnhofstrasse. In addition to living, predominantly regional artists from the Chiemgau, visual artists who have been forgotten were also presented (e.g. Käthe Seele or Wilhelm Srb-Schloßbauer ).

Staudach is the founding place of the nationally known band Django 3000 .
