Beaumont-Pied-de-Boeuf is a French municipality with 190 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Mayenne in the region Pays de la Loire . It belongs to the arrondissement of Château-Gontier and the municipality of Pays de Meslay-Grez . The inhabitants of the parish are called Belmontoises .
geography
The municipality is located about 32 kilometers south-east of Laval and 50 kilometers south-west of Le Mans on the Vaige River , into which the Vassé tributary also flows here. The flat, partly swampy and almost forestless area around Beaumont-Pied-de-Bœuf is characterized by an alternation of arable land and pastureland. There are a few lakes and ponds in the municipality. Of the largest - the Étang de Curécy - the north-western quarter belongs to Beaumont. Neighboring municipalities of Beaumont-Pied-de-Bœuf are Ballée in the north, Auvers-le-Hamon in the east, Saint-Loup-du-Dorat in the south, Bouère in the south-west, Le Buret in the west and Préaux in the north-west. In the east, the municipality borders on the Sarthe department . Beaumont-Pied-de-Bœuf includes the districts of Le Pineau, Mariette, La Bruyère, La Motte Allain, Clopoche, La Rouerie and La Herrouère as well as other small hamlets and individual farms.
history
Unlike the other communities in the arrondissement of Château-Gontier, Beaumont-Pied-de-Bœuf did not belong to the historic province of Anjou , but to Maine . In 1793 the community was still called Beaumont , before it was renamed Beaumont-Pied-de-Bœuf in 1801 to make it easier to distinguish between it, although there was already a community called Beaumont-Pied-de-Bœuf in the neighboring Sarthe department.
