The Teplice District (translated District Teplice ) was located in the northwest of the Czech Republic in kraj Ústecký . The Okresy were roughly comparable to the rural districts in Germany and were dissolved as local authorities on December 31, 2002 . 128,610 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019) live on 469 km² in 34 communities with a total of 115 districts, nine of which are cities.

161 km² can be used for agriculture, the forest area takes up an area of ​​about 46%. Some important traffic connections lead through the district. These include the important railway line from Most to Ústí nad Labem and the motorway from Prague to Dresden .

There have been major changes in the economy in recent years. Some of the large industrial companies were closed or downsized. The mountain area is mainly used for local recreation. Winter sports play the biggest role. Unemployment is just under 17%, and the trend is rising.
