Chinteni [ ˈcintenʲ ] (outdated: Chintău ; Hungarian Kajántó ) is a municipality in Cluj County , in Transylvania , Romania .
Geographical location
The municipality of Chinteni is located in the west of the Transylvanian Basin in the Somesch Highlands (Podișul Someșan) . On the creek of the same name - a left tributary of the Someșul Mic (Little Somesch) - and on the district road (Drum județean) DJ 109A, a road in poor condition (as of May 2017) , Chinteni is 16 kilometers north of the district capital Cluj. Napoca (Cluj) away.
history
The place Chinteni was first mentioned in 1263. In the Middle Ages the place was inhabited by Hungarian people.
An archaeological find in 1853 of a camp on the area of the incorporated village of Feiurdeni (ung. Fejérd ) points to a settlement in the region until the Late Bronze Age . This is in a museum in Vienna. In the area called Polog in Chinteni by the locals and near Valea Puturoasă ("the lazy brook") in the incorporated village of Deușu (Hungarian Diós ), remains of a settlement from Roman times were found. In Deuşu at Acăstăi there is a grave mound , which in the early history and Apreşu de Jos remains that the a settlement, Bronze Age suggest. Archaeological finds of a fortified settlement near Dealul Horhiş in the incorporated village of Măcicaşu (Hungarian Magyarmacskás ) also suggest that the community was settled in the Neolithic Age ; in Săliştea Veche (Hungarian Szellőcskevölgy ) near Pe vale to the Bronze Age and in the incorporated village of Vechea ( Budendorf ) near Valea Puturoasă back to the Latène Age .
In the Kingdom of Hungary , today's community belonged to the chair district Kolozsvár in County Cluj , then the historic district of Cluj and from 1950 to today's Cluj County.
On the area of Chinteni, the construction of an aquapark on an area of around 6.6 hectares is planned for an estimated 16.5 million euros and the redesign of the lake for two million against the will of the village population. At the beginning of March 2017, numerous dead fish were taken out of the lake.

Since 1880 the highest number of inhabitants (6,734) in the area of today's municipality was determined in 1941. The highest populations of Romanians (5,101) and Roma (127) were registered in 1956, Magyars (1,764) in 1941 and Romanian Germans (16) in 1900.
