Floreşti (until 1924 Feneşu Săsesc ; Hungarian Szászfenes , German  Saxon Fenesch ) is a municipality in the Cluj district in the Transylvania region in Romania .

The place Floreşti is also known under the Romanian outdated names Feneş and Feniş , the Hungarian Fenes and the German Fenisch and Deutsch-Branndorf .

The municipality of Floreşti is located in the west of the Transylvanian Basin in the Somesch Highlands (Podişul Someşelor) east of the Gilau Mountains . Floreşti, once a Transylvanian-Saxon town in the possession of Transylvanian bishops, was first mentioned in a document in 1272 or 1297, according to various sources.
